A place everyone has been

Any sensitive category

I’ve come to this conclusion,

After all the years you invested in me
All the love, tears, and possibilities
I realize that if the tables were turned around

I completely forgot to proofread my previous post, and since I wrote it during class it is quite filled with typos and other errors. Hope it wasn’t too unreadable to you and I will go through it now.

Anything wet and cold, just isn’t me.

The word winter, however, always pushes me into a state of melancholy. The word winter is beautiful. In winter the world freezes and comes to a standstill, just for a bit. After reading the book “Wintergirls” by Laurie Halse Anderson, the feeling of melancholy, whenever the word winter is mentioned, has been magnified. Not that Wintergirls got anything to do with winter, but the book has such a frozen feeling to it, like the one you get in winter. The book is, however, still one of my absolute favorites, not just one of those books you just call your favorite because it is the latest book read. I’ll do another post about books soon, I believe it will be a “best reads in 2011”-kind of post.

The snow, which was here yesterday, was gone today already, taking the winter away with it. Bye bye melancholy.

I’m not a fan of Christmas, believe it or not, I look upon Christmas and think that it is the one time a year when nasty people are nice and people who usually can’t stand each other exchange a small nice “merry Christmas” the last day at work/school.

Once upon a blue moon Christmas had a meaning, and I’m not talking about the birth of Jesus (he was most likely born in the fall not in December), I’m talking about the celebration of the winter solstice. Once upon a time, the festival we call Christmas was Yule, and it celebrated the turning sun. In the end of December the sun turn, and we will get longer and longer days.

What as become of Christmas? I’m afraid it’s nothing more than an excuse for people to be nice and for people to count how many and how expensive Christmas-gifts they got this year. Did they get more or less than last year? Did they get more gifts than their best friend, their neighbor or cousin?

Since Christmas is all about the presents now, I found that I had  much more fun buying presents than receiving them this year and I wish I had more people to buy presents to.

This, however, brings me to reveal the – only – good thing about Christmas, Christmas which these days is the symbol of Consumerism, and I will say (not in disrespect to anyone) the absolute best thing this Christmas is all the books I got (I’m staying true to the spirit of consumerism  here).

I hope I’ll be able to blog a little more in the coming weeks as there are a lot happening then so maybe I got something smart to write about. Right now I’m still working at the article about trafficking, and I write three reviews a week (Which of course implies that I read at least three books a week).

As for the every day life. I went to Sweden today and bought a stunning dragon statue, and a lot of crap (read: sweets and soda and other swada)
The summer is over now and I’ll be back in my regular routine school, homework, writing and blogging (hopefully). Since I’ve made a book blog this blog will be used to more “’personal matters.’ I’ll write more about things that I find interesting and I’ll study religion for one year (starting in August) so I think you can expect a lot of essays on different religions and religious views.
I also hope to write more short stories and maybe a few novelettes, flash fiction and other short prose this autumn, and if I’m satisfied with them I’ll publish them here.
